I had been bothered about ich outbreaks in my tank for a while. Recently, I have been hit with another wave of ich problems which wiped out half my anthias population and even my beloved yellow that has been with me for a year.

I had done some research on reef safe medication. It seems like the current literature states tat the only effective way to cure ich is through copper and hypo treatment.

I have however seen some reef-safe medication in the market. How effective are these? I am worried that while ich may be removed from the system, other organisms may be affected just that the results may not be immediate and surface only say months down the road.

yes there are few brands.. I think there's one product called Myzazin. Can't remember the brand. Another brand is Pries.. preis.. or something..

IMO, check on water conditions and parameters. Good water conditions tend to be more effective compared to fast ways to cure ich. Its more effective that way in the long run. Alternatively, many mentioned adding ozone or UV to prevent ich.

Personally have experienced with several types of medication against Ich and are most comfortable with Polyb Lab Medic after being introduced to this product.

Not only it wont colors the tank water unlike some medication and it is 100% reef-safe. That's the reason why there is always a bottle on hand in case of any need to use it.

Worth spending the $$$. wink.gif

I've used this medication, which I think is more for prevention than cure. Recommended to me by Petmart. It's called Marine Max disease prevention from Tropical Science. Seen it at Petmart and Aquastar Yishun.

No problems with my LPS when I dose.

I actually have a bottle of kick ich which I bought a while ago from petmart.

It states that it is reef safe and experiment has been done on xenias to ensure that it does not kill it. But I am still a bit wary of using any products even the polyp lab ones.

Sorry I can't comment on this as I don't have any inverts but believe it is safe, smile.gif

However it is best that you contact Polyb Lab or AquaMart for confirmation or fellow reefers can testify if it is safe with inverts.

Anybody can help reefer kpeck? wink.gif

I dosed the medication twice. Once after 10pm once before I left for the office this morning.

Think I can give an answer by next week when the 10 day dosing period is over...
