It's time for you to say good-bye to the SPS when they becomes white and btw, don't think your lighting intensity is enough. wink.gif

If additional 4 more tubes making a total of 8 tubes than probably it could helps but I got no experience with T5 lighting with SPS corals. sad.gif

With a total of 8 tubes of 80W T5 = 640W, have you consider using 2 x 250W MH instead other than the heat generated from the MH bubs? eyebrow.gif

Can you show a clear pic of the monti?? The pic you provided is too blue and a close-up pic is required... your parameters may be a little off, but if the rim of the monti is growing white, it could mean that it's actually growing! biggrin2.gif biggrin2.gif

Lots of plating montis have white rims when they're growing! wink.gif

Just to add that montis are generally low light SPS corals, having strong MH on top of them can result in them bleaching, so exercise caution when changing lights and know whether your water is clean enough... if you have very low nutrients in the water, the montis would bleach easily under intense light.... smile.gif

I think it's not only because that you have insufficient light. Montis especially the caps are not that light hungry and when yours turn white, it could be a number of issues.

Did you place them straighaway into the positions as shown in your photo? You might need to acclimatise them by placing them low and slowly move them up. Actually they do well at mid tank and below, no need to place so high. 80W T5 can be pretty strong if the corals are not acclimatised to the light and are placed directly under the white tubes. Once they've acclimatise they will be ok with the light intensity.

Once you get the above sorted out, you might not get enough light coverage especially if you are using only 2 white tubes. You might want to increase your light to say 6 or 8 tubes with white to blue ratio of about 70/30.

Whatever the case, you will need to acclimatise your new corals. And also try to bump up your Mg value....

Good luck!
Francis

agreed... i'm keeping plating montis using 10 x 54W T5 and only 6 tubes are fired up at one time, with 2 hrs of having the luxury of 10 tubes and they are growing fine.

Agreed with Vince that a closer pic might help to id better. If they are bleaching, u can try to locate them lower to try to let them survive. Anyway, u dun have anything to lose by then.

Also, i find those encrusting montis tends to lose their coloration easily, esp when u transport them from the LFS back home. Had one colony that bleached and had receding tissues... and i relocated it and it recovered and regained its color after more than 6 months.

plating montis tends to be easier., IMO.
