Depending on the sps condition i suppose, if they were healthy, shouldnt be a problem

I got a bit confused. You mentioned that turning off lights for about 3 days might help to solve the red hair algae problem, then you also mentioned that you're going to turn t5 on for 3 days?
By the way, SPS can grow well in tanks with sufficient T5s

watch your KH and CA if you using CR. If your SPS has been healthy, it means that when turing off the lights they will not be using much KH and CA to grow...
Personally, i think to much hassle, if small patch just pull out the algae....end of the day, if water not pristine, the algae will grow back again so no point....

3 days without light might stave off some algae while others like byroiss still needs a little pulling.....but the problem is that the spores or little bit of the roots might still be around thus what you see might be temporary....
Best is still find ways to bring down the no3 and PO4 first...

Agreed with Tomini Tang, any detectable po3 is actually too high... turning the lights off will cause algae to die off but they'll still probably grow again when the lights are turned on again... at the same time, the die-offs in algae will cause po4 to increase further and fuel the algae's growth....

Imagine in the ocean when there is a storm and rains for 3 days and 3 nights. Will the corals all dies off?
Well...guess ocean and tank is different thing altogether.
