growth?

Try the iwasaki 6500K bulbs. They are best for growth.

Think the higher kevin ones are better for colouration.

Ha ha ... I was just about to ask the same question!!!

SPS Sifus ... please advice!!!

Currently, I've used 3 x 250W Reeflux for 14 months ... so time to change. During this time, I've found that the growth is generally OK, but color can be improved.

I'm thinking of changing to better par bulbs for growth, and add in some T5 tubes for color.

Any suggestions?

Generally, the lower the Kelvin value of the bulb, the higher the PAR, hence the SPS grows faster....

If the colours of the SPS is not good enough, you can either use a higher PAR bulb, or try to use ozone to improve the clarity of the water (better light penetration), change your GAC more regularly, reduce feedings or upgrade the skimmer or keep the bulbs on for another hour or two daily... smile.gif

This configuration works for me.

250W DE Hamilton 14K running on magnetic ballast.
Won't work on e-ballast coz the bulb will be very dim. And not particularly sure on the performance of the SE version. This bulb tend to have a lower PAR in comparison to other brands' 14K but gives good colour tone balance and comparable growth.

Nice crisp white with a very slight tinge of blue. Blue tinge goes away as the bulb burns in after a month or so.

My last set of bulbs was used for 18 months. At that point in time, the bulb still works but a bit dim, SPS growth a bit slower. Just change out last month.

I also use 4 tube 54W ATI T5 (3 Blue Plus and 1 Aquablue Spezial)

A few?? For this nanocube, only once!

Now using the BLV20KK, IMHO, more white than blue... I prefer something bluer actually, but the tank is curently white light... tongue.gif

Hi Vincent,

You might want to try the Radium 20kk bulb which unfortunately is only available in SE config in Singapore.

IMO, the best 20kk bulb there is for its color (excellent mix of white and blue) and its PAR value is one of the best of the 20kk bulbs too.
