hi ....would like to gain some knowledge on how to treat this disease....


heard that its a killer....most commonly infect clownfish..


how to identify early signs?...

a dull sheen over the body, fish is seen beathing in quick succession and rubbing body against rocks / sand

with above symtops, excess mucus on the body. stringy mucus attached, lost of appetite instantly, hiding, isolated, at the top column breathing hard or lying on the bed etc.

brook can kill a fish as soon as 8hrs after infection.

i almost lost my prized clowns to it.

proven and effective is using formalin but sadly formalin is a controlled substance in singapore as its a very dangerous carcinogen.

i used furan instead, recommended by Henry from ML. dip the fish every day for an hr for 5 days. and during the progress of fish looking very sick, before the dip, do a freshwater dip for 15 min for some relieves.

will it affect my other fishes...like blue tang emperor angel...even though i removed the infected fish.......

how to treatr my tank?.....so that the disease will be gone(approx 1 mth?)

yes, it also less commonly known as angelfish disease.

it will affect all kind of fish, especially the powder tang series.

i will only recommend dipping or QT for all fish.

not easy to treat the whole main tank, medication might damage other organism.

your fish might not even last for for 2 week of not treated.
