Hi bros,

for the past 2-3 weeks, my fishes are having white spots on their body and they are showing sign
of itchiness. Some of the smaller fishes finage are showing signs of torn. Noticed that the white spots
infect mostly the "scaled" fish and leave the "scaless" fish alone.

I have fishes, inverts (brittle-star and cleaner shrimp), LPS and mostly soft corals.
Is it safe to perform hyposalinity treatment in my tank?

All advice welcome help-whip.gif

cheers

Hi Bro, did you add new thing in your tank? Tested all water parameter? Done any water change? Hyposalinity must do slowly if not it will stress up yr fishes and your coral might be affected by that.....

Me not experienced enough ..not sure whether UV and ozonizer will help but did hear ppl say UV is good in dealing with white spot...and ozoniser will help to clear the water....

For medication...cant advice cos never succeeded in the past....

never do hypo in the main tank.. ur corals and inverts will not survive the low salinity. Do them in your quarantine and let the system remain fishless for 2 - 3 mths.

All your invertebrates and corals will not be able to tolerate the hyposalinity treatment. Perhaps you would like to list out your list of fishes as most might be able to survive the treatment but not all (e.g. Mandarin fish).

To eliminate the Ich parasite, you will have to let your main tank go fallow and bring down the S.G. to 1.010 (recommended) smile.gif

just an update, guess its not ich. the white spots all gone now.
what i did
1) stop adding LS
2) add garlic and vit C to their diet
3) change water once a week for 1 month

All OK now smile.gif
cheers
