Have been looking at some of your fantastic looking colourful clams and wishing we could get such coloured ones over here but they are as rare as rocking horse poo.

Anyway to get the ball rolling here's a pic of my Derasa which i'm very proud of. It was bought by my uncle when it was about 5inches but soon grew to large and was moved to my tank where it can spread out more, it's currently about 12inches and still growing.

Hope u like

Novak

Hi Mimo

I've never bought a clam smaller than 2inches as i think the fish swimming over them causes them to open and close which puts to much stress on them than the more establised larger clams, also a good idea is to check underneath and remove any large bristleworms as they can burrow into the flesh and to make sure the waste flute of the clam is down flow of any current so not to pass waste back into the clam and the most important, mantle nippers ie lemonpeels/bicolours and a few other dwarf angels

Happy reefkeeping
