This is an appeal message from my friend Kewin Chew:

Our son Ken, 2 years and 4 months old is diagnosed with a serious Bone Marrow Disease called Aplastic Anaemia. This disease causes blood-forming stem cells not to produce enough platelets & blood. We are appealing for help from all kind hearted people to donate all types of platelets & blood but best with AB+ at ONLY SGH Blood Centre.

He needs alot of it daily for tranfusion during treatment. If anyone is blood type AB+, we also hope you can try to match our son's marrow.

For any donor making way to donate blood for my son, please go to SGH Blood Bank Centre & tell the staff that you wish to donate blood or platelets with HLA typing for Ken Chew Jian Zheng (NRIC : T0402637Z) in ward 6523 of KK Children's Hospital.

Please help if you can, and Thank You very much!!

I've edited the 1st message to include the details... I hope you can be able to help little Ken....

I'm currently trying to see if I could arrange some sort of arrangement to see if we can get several of our members who are willing to donate blood/platelets and might want to go as a group as I get the feeling that some might feel afraid to go alone, or some might not have transport.

Anyone who feels he would like to go donate as a group, please PM me.

Please note that this is not going to be a AROL group donation thingy but rather a group of kind-hearted people who's willing to give their little time to do something good, and probably give life...

To be honest, I feel pretty bad as I'm AB+ myself but I'm not able to donate to little Ken as I myself is on heavy medication daily for my own health impairments, hence, this is probably the best I can do to help...

Please note that if little Ken requires platelets, blood may not help too much in contributing to his recovery. Thread starter may check with Kewin if they require more platelets or more blood. They are different thing and different procedure. This is from experience when I donated blood instead of platelets for another appeal, and told by the nurse it is the wrong procedure, LL in the end.

Currently in indonesia, will check this thread again when back.

Just heard that they need to do blood transfusion daily for the next 3-6 months... dat's alot of blood/platelets needed... so everyone please help if you can...
