Mine was dealing with Bryopsis. And I tried this method described in RC.

Killing Bryopsis with high MG

Over a week, I raised my MG level from 1350 to 1500 while keeping all other parameters constant. I cannot say it was 100% effective. One thing for sure is that it slowed down their growth and it was much easier to remove them manually. smile.gif

BTW, that was one expensive experiment. In total, I bought 8 bottles of Kent Marine Tech M and it cost $$$! cry.gif

The pic showed the algae turned white after a few days. Subsequently, the white portion would die off, turning dark brown. They were then easily removed as they could no longer grip tightly onto the rocks. smile.gif

Another less expensive method to raise Mg, if the kH is low, is to use Warner Marine Research kH buffer with Mg. smile.gif

8 bottles!?!?
I read about this on RC but did not tried it..
My hair algae just turned dark brown and slimy den can be siphon off easily...

If the kh or mg goes back to normal after removing all the algae, will the algae grow back again?
