hi,
Bought a few SPS about a month ago,
The brown polpy extend for whole day and cover the coloured corallite.
Is it normal?
Is there coloured polpy SPS?
Is this Millepora?
Thanks.

I observed that the SPS in Iwana's show tank shows little polpy extention. Is my SPS under stress?
From a distant away, the staghorn in my tank look brown because of the brown polpy.
Thanks.

First, polyps extension is meant to be good sign. Healthy corals will have it. happy.gif

But some ever mentioned that the long polyps extension would also meant to be the last for you to see it. Dont know whether its true. ignore.gif

Your blue milli looks healthy to me. smile.gif

Only thing that i dont own a blue milli before is because most have brown polyps and problem is when they extend out and cover your blue coralite hence become brown. biggrin2.gif

So better no polyps extension than having it and stay alive would be great.. biggrinbounce2.gif

All Millipora's have long extended polyps(we've established that)...and it's fair to say that the polyps do cover the color of the coral's body...at first.

Yours seems to be showing color and will brighten more over time.
Under the right lighting and water chemistry you will see a change and the polyp extension won't be an issue anymore.

Millipora's come in such an array of colors. I have a few that at first didn't really show much color, and over time I've got a pink, yellow, green multi-color, deep purple, light purple, red. Because all SPS start off being brown in color, this closely matches the polyp coloration, but...as I said it will change - I promise.

I'd like you to reconsider Millipora's in the future.

Just give it some time.
