(boh bianz.. im only paying my parents $50 a mth for PUB).. intending to keep the SPS near the top of the tank.. lower grounds for lps

try to get the reading for your po4. high po4 will lead to browning of corals and stunned sps growth.
also, try to bring your ca lvls down. other then that, the parameters are ok. also..apart from the reading now, try to keep it that way for the future. stability is important.
u can go for lower requirement sps corals first like monti caps or digis. i would say millis and tenuis or staghorns like green slimers would be good for u.

i think your temp should go a little lower, like 26 to 27 degrees

wow! Ok thx a lot... din expect so quick and useless replies...
I would love to try tuning the tunze temp ctrl.. but even after reading the manuals.. i have NO IDEA how the tuning works for it.. haha so its still at stock setting by the previous owner...
plus i think the temp display/ctrl on my chiller is spoilt..
the readings can read 32dc...when i check thermometer and on the tunze controller.. its 28.. shrugs

Longer photoperiod around 6-8hrs would be great for sps.

Useless? I think your temperature reading is not calibrated.

Ahh... the temp readings for thermometer and the tunze controller is almost the same.. the one on the chiller is the haywired one

27 degrees would be great... but if you wanna keep it at 28, you run the risk of the corals being stressed when the ambient temp is high and the water temp might rise to 29 degrees...
What testkits are you using?
You might wanna try some staghorns as suggested earlier... they're pretty hardy...

But it is good to know how to dose properly before automating it with a CR
Yes, it is hectic becoz most of us use manual dosing 1st till we plan to use a CR.

Ciliaris,
Yeah, it's different for everyone I think. But I started with SPS first then
went onto LPS and now I'm starting to like some soft corals. You get some
beautiful 'soft coral only' aquariums.
Lovebytes,
I started with a green montipora and red monti cap, then a millipora.
Stags were difficult for me at first, but are also fast growers.
The nice thing with the monti's is they're super hardy. Then once
you're sucked in. You'll be hooked forever. hehe. It's really awesome.
I run a Aquamedic 12000K 150W MH with 4 X T5 Actinics, also Aquamedic.
MH is on for 10. The T5's on for 12 (1 hour before MH, 1 hour after).
I second the manual dosing idea. Then once you understand the
relationship btw these levels, the headaches go away. I don't have
a Ca reactor yet, but I'm glad I went into Reef Keeping slowly.
Good luck and have fun.
Oh, and ask millions of questions....and read, read, read.
