If it is really out of control, i think you should get the ultralife red slime remover... It really works and dun on the skimmer when you add the medication...

You should also control your po4... that would prevent it from outbreaking again... smile.gif

Its stated "Will not harm yr livestock n invertebrates" so should not be an issue for SPS. But note that as stated it might affect yr PH and oxygen level. Personally i saw my gonio contracting after using it and it stay in that manner for abt a week till i did a 40% water change, not sure if its due to that.

But it does help to control n reduce red slim algae, visible results occur 1 or 2 days after using. But as wat Boss had mentioned, controlling yr PO4 is the way to go. Cos after using it, the red slime was almost completely removed for abt a week then it slowly came back. It was then that i decided to buy and do a PO4 test and found high level. Subsequently i bought a FR from AM too and managed to control my PO4 level.

Controlling yr feeding esp flakes is also crucial. one last thing, nuisance algae also tend to bloom faster in warmer water so if u do not have a chiller, this might also be a factor.

Just got an 1/4HP Artica chiller, now the nuisance algae not much of an issue as my PO4 is nil. smile.gif

dun depend on the red slime remover. I used once and wat been mentioned after a wk the red slime is back again. It also affected the corals. My corals start to bleach after i used it. Wat i did now is control the feeding and increase the flow rate and my sand bed now is so clean. Do regular water change and it helps.

Just turn off your light for about 3 days and do water change.

Then you must minimize (if not possible to eliminate) your PO4 and NO3 source, if u don't do it this algae will come and come again.

Has anyone encounter this occurence with red slime algea? In my tank, they appear when my lights came on, after a few hrs, bubbles appear on them and even they are gone before my lights out.

Have not seen this occurence in my previous experience with red slime.

Anyone?
