Within a night, many tips of this colony were bitten off (the white parts). Some parts were as deep as 1cm.
Anyone knows what is responsible for this and how to solve this? cry.gif

Luckily the attacks were limited to this one colony only, which is also quite strange! blink.gif

The pc cannot be removed anymore. sad.gif

I did not see any fish pecking, plus the happened at night when all fishes were sleeping.
I do have a few huge hairy crabs. So far, they are the prime suspects. laugh.gif

If Ian is reading this, this is the pc I shared with you long time ago at one of those LCK shipments. smile.gif

Likely to be the handy work of your hairy crabs.
I've seen my hairy crabs eat my Montiporas.

hi bro!

wah... i can only vaguely remember sharing a piece with you man, its been so long since then- it was during those late night shipments ages before steven opened the ericsson pet farm outlet right? very impressed with your sps husbandry man- such a big colony now.

strange that the tips are getting bitten off. i mean, if it were a crab at fault, wouldnt the problem begin at the base or somewhere more accessible? id say its either a tuskfish, parrotfish or large angel. do you have either bro? must observe them more closely.

do let us know if you find the culprit ya- seems like everyday we discover more new sps pests man.

cheers,
ian

Hi, this pc must be more than a year old. How time flies huh? I still have a tort shared by you, Wonder, and I. It was bought on the same day. smile.gif

I only have a Golden and a Flameback angel. If they were responsible, wouldm't they continue to peck during the day? And why won't they attack other colonies? sad.gif Really confusing.

Wake up 5 am to catch the culprit?
Don't think it's the hairies. It should not be from the tips.
Sounds familiar.............
Just hope that the other colonies don't suffer the same fate. pray.gif pray.gif
All the best and keep us posted.

Just install a live cam with motion detector and at least a 250G hard disk may helps to find out who's the culprit ... biggrin2.gif

hi tomini tang!

an argi angel? but theyre quite small man. gosh.. didnt think it can do this type of damage. i was thinking more of the large blue lined or koran angel types, but if an argi can be such a menace we had better be on the lookout.

that's why me no keep angels tongue.gif

actually ivan's guess not bad- a big urchin could possibly do that, especially if the tips were damaged or burned beforehand and its trying to makan the algae growing on it, but your tips were healthy before right? dunno man... let us know who the culprit is ya.

cheers

My guess is also a crab and should be a very big one that cannot go deep. The trace on the photo seems that it is moving in a line. Don't think it should be fishes as it will randomly attack unless your coral is unhealthly which seems impossible in your tank tongue2.gif

It might be also telling you that it is time to frag eyebrow.gif
