Personally for a SPS tank, I think 3 tubes barely make it and having 4 tubes would be ideal. wink.gif

It should be okay as long as you place those SPS on the highest point of your aquascaping with no restriction to the current flow. wink.gif

Wat type of fixture are you using? For T5 setup, the reflector matters alot. For 1.5ft width, ideally I'll go for at least 4 tubes or more.

Do it one stage at a time..you never know..maybe can consider MH ..you will like the "ripple" effect..
Never jump into it ...do some studies 1st...There are different camp of SPS reefer between T5 and MH.. smile.gif ..

You decide! smile.gif

I don't think the 2 white tubes are sufficient: your water has to be pristine clean, you can try the lights out, if the SPS turns brown, it's telling you something. smile.gif

Most, if not all, of the successful T5 SPS reefers use a minimum 4ft (54W) tube. 3ft (39W) tubes might not be sufficient as the intensity and penetration of the light is just not enough. So you might want to reconsider doing full T5 for a 3 footer.

Then the light fixture and the tube also play a very important role. Good quality brand, given time and money spent on R&D, will definitely give you better results and reliability. This is something you can't do without if you want to keep SPS.

Rule of thumb for light combo, every 3 white tube for 1 blue (actinic) tube. You might be able to get away with 5 white and 2 blue (actinic).

Do a bit of research and read up on the member's tank threads to get a better idea.

brand of the tubes are very very important....i have no experience with of the brand that you are using....but the other one, i am quite sure not enough....

Do agree with Scarab observation....i seen more success with 4ft tube and above then the 3 footer.....but i might be wrong....tongue.gif

Previously i was also quite sketiptical that different light housing has different preformance....all use the same ballast right.... but after installing the ATI powermodule, i now know that a good set up is not just in the tubes but also the lightset.

Theres no guarantee to that, lights dun do everything... the amt of nutrients in the water will also decide if the SPS coral would turn brown... smile.gif
