Hi, starting this thread to keep track of the reidi's frys.

The frys were born on the 27/10/07 around 8pm. Did not witness the actual birth as i was out. Came back home to find around 100+ frys.
Transferred ard 100 to the nursey tank and left 12 with the parents. The reason i left some with the parents is to see whether the frys will survive in display tank.

As i was on camp duty on Sunday, i could not take care of the frys. My wife managed to feed some BBS to the frys while i was away. Was quite surpised as it only took ard 15 hrs for the BBS to hatch and swim to the collection cup of the hatchery dish. Money well spent on this equipment.

Picture of the hatchery dish and the convention inverted bottle method. The hatchery dish does not require air pump.

Today came home in the evening, found that some frys had died. Kind of expected that since it is my first try at raising frys. Body count were 24. Those frys that are with the parents are missing, might have perished too. Lesson learnt, don't leave the frys in display tank.

Well done bro Dominik! maybe those fries that die were not so healthy sad.gif any way, if can u can tune the air bullbe rate higher in your setup, and water level near the brim.... this will some how create a washing circular motion... the motion shuld keep most fries away from the water surface. and try to feed them 4-5 times if not at least 3 times a day , rest around 2-3 hours between feeding times. biggrin2.gif

Day 4

Not a good day. Many more perished. Now left with around 20, of which only 10 look healthy. Changed most of the water and see how it goes.

They say the first 5 days are the most difficult. Hope i can bring them pass five days.

Yup. Have to one step at a time. Aim 5 days first then 1 week then 2 week...

BTW the frys are at the bottom of the tank and twitching. You know any medication to add to the water?
